Appendix 1: Safety recommendation

  1. Limit your stay in unsecure gathering places as much as possible
  2. Prefer outings in small groups to those in isolation, in unfamiliar places
  3. Do not open your hotel room to unidentified people, make sure to have identified the emergency exits and to have identified how to lock the door your room (secunÿ /ock down) if necessary;
  4. If your hotel does not have a safe, leave your valuables at reception;
  5. Take care of your valuables (laptops, cell phones, tablets, cameras) during the conference, especially during coffee breaks for example, the risk of theft which may materialize regardless of the location of the meeting;
  6. In the car, lock the doors and leave nothing visible on the seats;
  7. Always have your identity documents (at least one copy) to meet the Police checks;
  8. Keep a list of useful telephone numbers with you or, better yet, save them on the SIM of your phone;
  9. When shopping in souvenir markets (for example) pay attention to pickpockets who distract you on one side and rob you on the other;
  10. To prevent cases of scams, avoid having extensive interactions with unknown people who approach you in the street or at the market;
  11. When using taxis, always note the registration number before or rear, or license (on the front door), never share a taxi with a unknown;
  12. If you see anything suspicious (strange behavior, suspicious package, one of lack of security or vigilance on the part of security personnel, if you are witness an incident or if you are a victim, report immediately to the organizers of your meeting;
  13. Due to the security situation, absolutely avoid traveling on foot alone. Once night falls, to frequent certain bars and nightclubs. If you are looking for pleasant and safe places, ask the organizers for confirmation.
